Kent Police Crack Down on Lockdown Rule-Breakers
Between March 5 and 8, Kent Police handed out 74 fines to those blatantly ignoring Covid rules. Many caught flouting the law were celebrating birthdays and anniversaries at house parties. Over 30 fines were issued across Sutton Valence, Dartford, Gravesend, and Tonbridge for similar offences.
Birthday Bashes and Car Meet-Ups Slammed by Police
On Sunday, a birthday party at a Canterbury B&B landed six people with fines. The offenders had banners, balloons, and confetti—clearly ignoring lockdown limits. Meanwhile, in Rochester, a large group gathered in a car park and eight were fined for socialising amid the restrictions.
Police Warn Repeat Offenders: No Second Chances
In Canterbury, a resident and guest were fined for indoor mixing after multiple warnings. Assistant Chief Constable Claire Nix blasted rule-breakers: “One small meet-up may seem insignificant, but it isn’t. It’s not fair on those making sacrifices, missing family, and protecting others.”
“There is light at the end of the tunnel though. I urge everyone to be patient, show restraint, and wait for lockdown to lift so we can all enjoy freedom with friends and family sooner.”
Kent Police stress the importance of sticking to lockdown to keep communities safe and avoid hefty fines. The message is clear: no more house parties, no excuses.
