Police Crack Down on Anti-Social Behaviour in Fore Street

Small Group Sparks Big Trouble

Police have been dealing with a string of complaints about a small gang causing chaos around Fore Street. Issues include verbal abuse, open drug use, anti-social behaviour, and shop thefts.

Section 35 Dispersal Order Enforced

To tackle the problems, officers secured a Section 35 Dispersal Order. Anyone caught causing trouble or likely to do so in the next 48 hours risks arrest and prosecution.

Community and Support in Focus

Sgt Charly Chilton said: “The decision to use Section 35 powers wasn’t taken lightly. We understand street homelessness isn’t a crime, but the anti-social behaviour linked to this small group is upsetting our local community.”

She added: “We’re working closely with the Council’s Homeless Team and town council to make sure support is offered to those in need. Officers will maintain patrols to enforce the order.”
