Police Respond After Emergency Call

The ambulance service alerted officers shortly after 5 p.m. today following reports that a dog had attacked a child. Sadly, the child’s death was quickly confirmed on the scene.

Investigation Underway, No Arrests Yet

Superintendent Matt Bullivant described the incident as “absolutely tragic.” He warned it is still early days in the investigation and urged the public to avoid speculation, especially on social media.

The superintendent also appealed to the media and the public to respect the family’s privacy as they cope with their loss. “It’s difficult to imagine what they’re going through right now,” he said.
