Drama at Walmer Castle as Elderly Man with Dementia Goes Missing

The RNLI lifeboat crew from Walmer sprang into action alongside Kent Police Coastguard teams from Deal and Langdon after a 70-year-old man with dementia got lost during a family visit to Walmer Castle on Saturday, 4 March 2023.

Massive Search Effort Launched

For hours, rescue teams scoured the area on land and sea. The lifeboat was deployed to search the waters nearby as well, with everyone anxious for news of the missing pensioner.

Happy Ending: Man Found Safe and Sound

Relief came just after 5pm when the man was located and reunited with his worried family. Authorities confirmed the 70-year-old was unharmed and safe after the ordeal.
