Shock at Buckley Hall: Prisoner Dies in Cell Fire

A man has tragically died after setting fire to himself and his cell at HM Prison Buckley Hall in Rochdale, it has emerged.

Emergency Response to Horror Blaze

Emergency services rushed to the Category C prison around 6.30pm after staff raised the alarm about the blaze inside the accommodation block.

Despite frantic efforts from prison officers, firefighters, and paramedics, the prisoner suffered fatal burns.

Prison Houses Manchester’s Long-Sentence Offenders

Buckley Hall mainly holds inmates from the Manchester area serving terms of four years or more. The prison is divided into four accommodation units.

Investigation Underway

Greater Manchester Police are leading a full investigation into the tragic event. The Ministry of Justice has been contacted for a statement.
