Man in 50s Held Over Shocking Pillowcase Attack on Woman in Stamford Hill

Police arrested a man in his 50s last night in Haringey, suspected of grievous bodily harm (GBH) after a terrifying assault on a young woman in Stamford Hill. The suspect has since been released under investigation.

Brutal Assault Caught Police’s Attention

Officers were called just after 7pm on Thursday, 18 March, following an attack about 30 minutes earlier on Manor Road. A 20-year-old woman told police she was grabbed from behind and had a pillowcase forcibly placed over her head before being assaulted.

She was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Investigation Underway, Motive Unclear

Detectives are working to uncover the motive behind the nasty attack. Currently, the incident is not believed to be connected to any other crimes.

Police Reassure Community

Detective Chief Superintendent Marcus Barnett said: “This was an appalling and unprovoked assault on a young woman. Such incidents, while thankfully rare, are taken extremely seriously. My officers are doing everything they can to bring offenders to justice and keep our community safe.”
