Helmetless Teen Speeds Through Gillingham High Street on Stolen Bike

Just before 1am on Monday, 22 November 2021, cops on patrol in Gillingham spotted a rider tearing through the High Street – without a crash helmet and speeding.

False Plates and Stolen Motorbike Uncovered

Working with CCTV teams, officers tracked, chased, and caught up with the culprit. It turned out the bike was sporting false plates and was suspected stolen.

Cop Cracks Down on Dangerous Riders

“This kind of behaviour poses a significant danger and causes misery to residents,” said Sergeant Brett Barham of the Roads Policing Unit. “We’re committed to stopping and arresting those who put others at risk.”

17-Year-Old Arrested but Released Pending Investigation

The rider, a 17-year-old from Gillingham, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft of a vehicle, and failing to stop for police. He has since been released as inquiries continue.
