Man Found Dead in Dorset Alleyway: Murder Probe Launched
Dorset Police were called to a grim scene at 3:13pm on Friday 14 January 2022. Paramedics reported a man, in his 50s, found unresponsive in an alleyway off Shelbourne Road. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suspicious Activity Sparks Murder Investigation
Initially, police believed there was nothing suspicious about the death. The man’s family was informed, and the coroner notified. But detectives soon uncovered suspicious activity — including his bank cards being used after his death. This raised alarm bells.
Following a post-mortem on 26 January, it was confirmed the man died from injuries inflicted on him. The cause of death will be officially released by HM Coroner.
Four Arrested After Police Launch Murder Hunt
Detective Superintendent Gavin Dudfield said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this very difficult time.” After the post-mortem results, Dorset’s Major Crime Investigation Team launched a murder probe.
Late on 26 January and into early 27 January, police arrested four suspects:
- Three Bournemouth men aged 28 and two aged 30, arrested for murder and robbery
- One 27-year-old local woman arrested for fraud by false representation
All remain in custody.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and CCTV Footage
Detectives are targeting a narrow window between 2:50pm and 3:05pm on 14 January when the incident is believed to have unfolded. The alleyway runs alongside the A338 Wessex Way between Shelbourne Road and Malmesbury Park Road.
Officers urge anyone who saw suspicious activity or caught movement on CCTV or dashcam during that time to come forward.
Local neighbourhood teams will be patrolling the area and are ready to address residents’ concerns.
