Murder Probe Launched After Body Found in Havering
A body was discovered in Havering in the early hours of Sunday, sparking a murder investigation. While formal ID is still pending, the family of missing 21-year-old Hina Bashir from Ilford has been informed and is receiving support from specialised officers.
Man Arrested Over Murder
A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said:
“My thoughts are with Hina’s family, who have suffered a terrible loss. We will offer them whatever assistance we can.”
He added: “This has been a fast-paced investigation, and a man has been apprehended. We are certain that this man and Hina knew each other.”
Ongoing Investigation and Appeal for Information
The Met are determined to piece together what happened not just in the days before Hina’s death but in the weeks leading up to the tragedy.
“I’d like to encourage anyone who believes they have information that could help us to come forward,” said DCI Whellams.
