Essex Cop Sacked for Lying on Job Application
PC Ben Burnell, once stationed in the west of Essex, has been booted out of the force after being caught fudging his application form with false info.
Falsified Details and Dishonesty Exposed
Burnell didn’t just submit fake details—he also lied when his line manager questioned the discrepancies. His deception didn’t fly for long.
Gross Misconduct Hearing at Chelmsford
The case was slammed down at an Essex Police gross misconduct hearing held at Chelmsford Civic Centre on 20 March. The panel, led by legal boss Andrew Hearn, found Burnell’s guilt proved beyond doubt.
Dismissed Without Notice
Burnell was axed immediately, no ifs or buts.
Deputy Chief Constable Andy Prophet blasted: “Honesty and integrity is crucial for building and maintaining the trust and confidence of the public. PC Burnell knowingly included false information in his application, then lied about his intention to do so. We demand the highest standards of behaviour from all officers and staff, and the actions of PC Burnell have fallen well below these.”
