Drug Driving Bust and Speeding Crackdown in Canterbury and Coast Towns
Kent Police launched a clampdown on reckless driving across Canterbury, Herne Bay, and Whitstable on Monday 14 March 2022. Officers from Canterbury’s Community Policing Team teamed up with Kent’s Road Safety Unit to target dangerous road users.
Woman Arrested for Drug Driving in Whitstable
A 20-year-old woman was arrested in Whitstable on suspicion of drug driving after being stopped by a motorcycle patrol. She has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
Speeding Drivers Nabbed in Herne Bay
In Herne Bay, two motorists were slapped with Traffic Offence Reports after clocking over 40mph in a 30mph zone. Police are cracking down hard on speeders to keep residents safe.
City Centre Mopeds and E-Scooter Riders Warned
In Canterbury city centre, around 20 riders of mopeds, e-scooters, and bicycles were spoken to and advised against riding in the area due to safety concerns.
Sergeant Lee Thompson, Canterbury Community Policing Team, said: “Kent Police is aware of the frustration dangerous and nuisance drivers cause for residents in the district. It is every motorist’s duty to ensure they drive in a way that does not impact on others, but we will continue to carry out operations like this one to remind drivers of that responsibility.”
