Tragic House Fire in Smethwick Claims Young Woman’s Life
In the early hours of Saturday, July 31, a devastating blaze ripped through a semi-detached home on Harvest Road, Smethwick. At 4.35am, crews from four fire stations — Oldbury, West Bromwich, Woodgate Valley, and Smethwick — rushed to the scene with four fire engines and 19 firefighters.
Woman in Her 30s Dies After Firefighters Rescue
The fire severely damaged the entire property. Firefighters found a woman in her 30s unconscious in a bedroom and pulled her to safety. Despite their efforts, ambulance crews later confirmed her death.
Two Others Rescued and Rushed to Hospital
A man and a woman, both believed to be in their fifties, were also rescued. Our crews administered first aid before the ambulance service took them to hospital for treatment.
Fire Under Control, Investigation Underway
The blaze was brought under control by 6.20am. By 7.20am, only one fire engine remained on site.
