Shock stabbing at busy Old Swan pub sparks police hunt
Merseyside Police are hunting for clues after a stabbing at the Old Stanley Arms on Prescot Road, Old Swan, late Friday night. Officers rushed to the scene just after 10.50pm following reports of an assault inside the packed pub.
Targeted attack shocks Friday night crowd
On arrival, police found a 123 – a serious injury – suggesting the stabbing was no random act but a targeted assault. A forensic scene was quickly set up as detectives launched an urgent investigation to piece together what happened.
House-to-house enquiries and CCTV being checked
Detectives are knocking on doors and trawling through CCTV footage in the area to track down suspects and witnesses. They’re appealing for anyone with information to come forward and help crack the case.
Detective slams knife crime as “despicable”
Detective Chief Inspector Mike Dalton said: “It is despicable to think anyone would enter a pub on a busy Friday night and carry out such a nasty assault. This would have been a frightening experience for everyone in the pub at the time, let alone the victim.”
He added, “The use of knives on our streets is extremely dangerous and will not be tolerated.”
