Police Hunt Man Over Shocking Sexual Assaults on Benbecula
Police Scotland are appealing for help after a series of serious sexual assaults rocked the quiet island of Benbecula. A woman in her 40s was attacked twice in the Creagorry area, leaving the local community stunned.
Two Attacks, One Suspect
The first assault happened between 10.30pm on Friday, 8 September, and 3am the following day. The second took place in the early hours of Monday, 18 September, between 1.15am and 2.15am. Detectives believe the same man is behind both attacks.
Suspect Description & Police Appeal
The suspect is described as a white male, around 5’8”, medium build, clean-shaven with greyish-white hair, and speaking with an English accent. Police Scotland’s specialist Public Protection Unit is leading the investigation.
“Incidents like these are very concerning in a tight-knit community like Benbecula,” said Detective Inspector Craig Ross. “We need anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward.”

Community Reassurance & Ongoing Investigation
Chief Inspector Jane Mackenzie, the Western Isles area commander, pledged a visible police presence on the island. She urged residents to stay vigilant and contact officers if they have any concerns.
“We’re taking this extremely seriously and working closely with national teams to bring the offender to justice,” said Mackenzie.
The probe continues as police gather evidence to catch the attacker terrorising Benbecula.
