BA Pilot Banned After Drunken Mid-Flight Meltdown
A British Airways pilot was suspended after causing chaos while drunk on board a flight – as a passenger!
Flight from Edinburgh Screams for Emergency Stop
The drama unfolded on May 30 during BA1457 from Edinburgh to Heathrow. The 51-year-old captain, off duty at the time, acted “as if very drunk,” sources say. Cabin crew quickly flagged the issue to the captain, forcing the plane to abort take-off and return to the gate.
The aircraft was met by police after the disruptive pilot resisted arrest “passionately,” delaying the flight by around 90 minutes.
Police Probe and Suspension
The pilot was due to operate another flight upon landing but has been suspended indefinitely.
A British Airways spokesperson said: “It would be inappropriate to comment during a police investigation.”
Not the First Time BA Faces Tough Questions
- In a separate case, pilot Haden Pentecost was sacked after being found with drugs in an aircraft toilet.
- He later admitted to flying while impaired and neglecting safety duties.
