Early Morning Blaze Hits Southampton Garage and Flat
Firefighters from St Mary’s, Hightown, and Eastleigh were scrambled in the dead of night to tackle a fierce fire in Southampton.
As crews arrived, thick smoke poured from the roof of a storage garage with a flat above it. The blaze quickly spread upward, but firefighters rushed in to douse the flames.
Blaze Contained to Garage and One Flat
The fire started in the storage garage before engulfing the flat directly above. Firefighters battled hard to stop the fire from spreading to neighbouring flats.
Mark Woods, group manager: “Crews worked extremely hard and diligently to put out the fire, limiting it to the garage and a single flat and preventing it from spreading to adjacent flats.”
Team Effort Saves the Day
Fire crews teamed up with the police, South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS), and the Red Cross to manage the scene and help those affected.
