Police are on the hunt for witnesses after a high-speed car chase ended in a crash on the A27 near Brighton.

High-Speed Drama on the A27

The chaos kicked off just before 6pm on Saturday, 3 January. Sussex Police tried to stop a BMW on the westbound carriageway between Falmer and Hollingbury. Instead of pulling over, the driver sped off, weaving recklessly through build-up traffic.

Crash and Chase Ends in Foot Escape

The rogue motorist then smashed into a Range Rover, abandoned the BMW, and bolted on foot across the road, disappearing at speed.

Suspect Nabbed and in Custody

A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. He remains in police custody as inquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Tony Gander said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage of the incident.”
