Body Removed After Tragic Incident in East Cowes Leaves Six-Year-Old Dead
A chilling drama unfolded in East Cowes today after emergency services found a six-year-old child unresponsive at a home on Cromwell Avenue. Despite frantic attempts to save her under police escort to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport, the young girl sadly died.
Father Found Dead at Home
The body of a 44-year-old man, believed to be the child’s father, was recovered from the property. Police also discovered two other bodies inside the house. Sources close to the investigation describe a horrific chain of events that unfolded at the new-build address.
Major Police Investigation Underway
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene just after 10am, sparking a major emergency response. Officers carried out extensive door-to-door enquiries throughout the day, and Hampshire Police Major Crime team have taken over the investigation. A police spokesperson said: “We were called to an address in Cromwell Avenue in East Cowes at 10:10am today (June 1). On arrival, officers found the body of a 44-year-old man. A six-year-old girl was found unconscious and taken to St Mary’s Hospital, where she later died. The bodies of two others were also found within the address. At this stage, we are treating this as an isolated incident and want to reassure the community that there is no wider risk.”
Officers will maintain a presence overnight as formal identification procedures continue. Specialist officers are supporting the family through the tragedy, and emergency staff involved have been offered counselling.
