Tragedy at Portsmouth Mutiny Festival: Two Dead in Suspected Drug Overdose
Two festival-goers have died after falling ill at this year’s Mutiny Festival in Portsmouth. An 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man, both from West Leigh, were found unconscious at the event on Saturday evening.
Despite frantic CPR efforts by on-site medics and paramedics, both victims later died in hospital. Police say the deaths are not being treated as suspicious but investigations continue.
Fatal Overdoses at King George V Playing Fields
At 7.10 pm, an 18-year-old woman fell ill at the festival site located in King George V Playing Fields, Cosham. She was rushed to Queen Alexandra Hospital but sadly passed away.
Just 20 minutes later, the 20-year-old man was found collapsed on site and was also taken to the same hospital, where he later died.
Police Launch Investigation, Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
A police spokesperson said: “The deaths are not being treated as suspicious but enquiries continue to establish the circumstances.”
“Officers are working closely with Mutiny Festival organisers and supporting friends and witnesses. Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.”
