Murder Probe Launched After 93-Year-Old Woman Dies in Bude
Detectives have opened a murder investigation following the shocking death of a 93-year-old woman at a home in Cherrill Gardens, Bude.
Body Found After Welfare Concern
Police were called just after 1pm on Sunday, 29 June, following a welfare concern report about the elderly woman. Officers and paramedics attended the scene, but sadly, she was pronounced dead.
A 65-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody as the investigation unfolds. The victim’s next of kin has been informed, and formal identification is ongoing.
Detective Inspector Speaks Out
“We are conducting thorough enquiries to establish exactly what happened in this very sad case,” said Detective Inspector Rob Smith, who is leading the probe.
“A police cordon has been set up, and it is believed the man and woman knew each other. This appears to be an isolated incident, and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death at this time.”
He added that residents can expect an increased police presence in the coming days.
