Burglar duo target elderly pensioners in Portsmouth raids
Two heartless burglars have struck at the homes of vulnerable pensioners in Portsmouth. CCTV images have been released as police hunt the pair who struck on the night of Thursday, 6 June.
Raid on 87-year-old’s flat
Around 10pm, the criminals forced their way into a flat on Simpson Road. They pushed past the 87-year-old resident and tried to steal his TV – but fled empty-handed.
Second break-in at 86-year-old’s home
Less than 30 minutes later, the same pair targeted another flat on 1 Avenue. The 86-year-old woman disturbed them, spooking the robbers into a quick escape. However, they stole cash, a gold watch, and a striking gold ring set with three white stones.
Police appeal for help
“These were despicable and cowardly acts against two vulnerable people who have been left very unsettled by what has happened to them,” said PC Nick Jackson.
“We’ve released a CCTV image of two people we’d like to speak to about these incidents. The image is a bit blurred and one offender has their back to the camera. Still, someone might recognise them by their clothing or posture, or have seen similar individuals that evening.”
