Man Found Dead in Rotherham: Police Seek CCTV and Dashcam Footage

Detectives are hunting for clues after the body of a man was discovered in a derelict building in Rotherham last month. They want anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward and help crack the case.

Stephen Simpson Identified as Victim

On 19 January at 10:35am, emergency teams raced to Silverwood Miners Welfare Resource Centre on 1 Road. Inside, they found the body of 49-year-old Stephen Simpson, also known locally as Stephen Jones or “Bubba”.

Police are piecing together his final movements and believe community tips could hold vital information.

Detectives Ask Public to Check Footage and Memories

Detective Sergeant Matt Barnes spoke out:

“It is clear from the many messages of support that Stephen was well thought of in the community. We’re asking anyone with information—no matter how small—to get in touch. It may help us understand how and why Stephen died. We’re especially keen to know about Stephen’s movements between 11 and 19 January. If you are a business that saw Stephen or a driver who spotted him during this time, please check your CCTV or dashcam footage.”
