Junior Taskmaster Set to Capture Kids and Families Across the UK
The beloved BAFTA-winning comedy hit Taskmaster is expanding its empire with a brand new, family-friendly spin-off: Junior Taskmaster. With both PG and “Bleeped” versions already drawing in young viewers and parents alike, the show’s appeal is booming. Schools nationwide are even bringing the madness into classrooms through initiatives like School Tasking and partnerships with children’s mental health charity Place2Be.
Meet the Mini Masters of Mischief
The new eight-part series will feature kids aged 9 to 11, showing off their cunning, creativity, and athleticism on the iconic Taskmaster stage. The hosts for this junior edition are yet to be announced, but the excitement is already building.
Creators and Stars Share Their Thoughts
Alex Horne, Taskmaster’s creator, joked:
“I’ve watched many comedians flounder with simple instructions, so I expect these kids to be sharper and just as funny. I’ll be handing over my assistant’s clipboard to someone equally as efficient, as I have six more adults to manage. I live for bureaucracy, so this is excellent news.”
Greg Davies, original Taskmaster and resident curmudgeon, added:
“My long-term contempt for young people is well-known, but everyone at Taskmaster HQ believes they might have some merit. I’m excited for two new team members to take on the challenge of wrangling these youngsters on TV. I’ll be watching closely to ensure standards are met—and I’ll probably be pretty angry. It’s not even an act anymore.”
Channel 4 Backs the Next Generation of Comedy Stars
Tom Beck, Channel 4’s Head of Events, enthused:
“Taskmaster is the funniest, most creative show on TV. We’re thrilled to have three more years with Greg and Alex on the original, and expanding the brand with Junior Taskmaster. It promises to be a madcap, family-friendly treat that could unearth tomorrow’s comedy stars.”
Phil Harris, Channel 4’s Head of Entertainment and Live Events, said:
“We’ve seen some unforgettable talents in recent series. Extending the Taskmaster universe with Junior Taskmaster is incredibly exciting after the success of our New Year’s Treat specials.”
Executive producer Jon Thoday added:
“It’s been a joy working with Channel 4, and we’re thrilled to continue the relationship with Junior Taskmaster.”
