Shock horror in Chicago as two adults are charged over the death of a 5-year-old girl in Park Forest.

Grandfather’s Grim Confession

On Friday evening, police and paramedics rushed to a home on Osage Street after a report of an unresponsive child. Klent Elwoods, the girl’s grandfather, made the heart-wrenching 911 call and admitted to abusing the little girl, officials reveal.

Desperate Lifesaving Efforts Fail

Emergency teams sprang into action, performing CPR before rushing the girl to Franciscan Health Olympia Fields Hospital. The injuries were so severe she was airlifted to Comer Children’s Hospital in Chicago. Sadly, the 5-year-old, identified as Jada Moore, died the following morning.

Autopsy Confirms Abuse

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office ruled physical abuse as the cause of death. Both Elwoods, 62, and his wife Lisa Jones, 57, confessed to detectives during questioning, sealing their fate.

Charged with First-Degree Murder

Police arrested Elwoods and Jones on Friday. On Sunday, the Cook County State’s Attorney charged them with first-degree murder. The pair are set to face bond court in Markham on Monday.
