Paedophile Au Pair Sentenced to Life for Horrific Child Abuse
Aaron McWilliams, 28, has been handed a life sentence and must serve at least nine years behind bars. The grim verdict came down at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday 2 November after McWilliams admitted a string of vile offences against children.
Terrifying List of Crimes Revealed
McWilliams pleaded guilty to:
- 14 counts of inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual penetration
- 8 counts of inciting a boy under 13 to sexual activity without penetration
- 7 counts of sexual assault on a boy by touching
- 3 counts of making indecent images of children
- 3 counts of sexual assault on a child
- 2 counts of rape of a boy under 13
- Attempted rape of a boy under 13
- Sexual assault on a girl by touching
- Engaging in sexual activity with a boy under 15
The abuse took place between 2012 and 2017 across the UK and Europe. McWilliams targeted vulnerable children through his work as a live-in au pair, betraying the families who trusted him.
Multiple Victims and Shocking Discovery
McWilliams first hit the headlines in 2016 after being convicted of sexually assaulting a four-year-old. But after serving just part of his sentence, he duped another family with fake references and started abusing again within weeks.
The predator sexually abused another child before landing a seven-year jail term in August 2017. When police seized his phone during that investigation, they uncovered a chilling trove of 2,472 indecent images of children. Many were category A – the most horrific level of abuse imaginable.
Worse still, detectives found videos McWilliams had made showing himself abusing his young victims. In total, 24 children between four months and 14 years old were identified, all but one boys.
Police Plea and Tough Words
“McWilliams is a predatory paedophile who sexually abused a large number of children he was entrusted to care for. It is every family’s worst nightmare,” said Detective Superintendent Adam Ghaboos.
“He is manipulative, cold, calculating, and highly dangerous to children and young people. This case is among the most serious child abuse we have ever dealt with.
“I commend the bravery of the victims and their families. Their courage has helped bring McWilliams to justice, where he will spend a long time in jail to protect other children.”
“We cannot rule out that there may be more victims. If anyone suspects McWilliams ever had contact with their children, they must come forward.”
