Early Morning Sting Nets Suspect in Cheriton Car Crime Spree
Two Folkestone cops on patrol caught a 31-year-old man red-handed in Cheriton’s Broadmead Village and Lancers areas after a spate of vehicle damage and thefts.
Attempted Glove Compartment Raid Sparks Arrest
At 1.40am on Thursday 13 January 2022, Kent Police received a call about an attempted car theft on Gainsborough Close. The glove compartment had been rifled through.
The officers, already nearby in Cherry Garden Avenue, had just stopped to question a man walking nearby when the report came in. They quickly arrested the man from Folkestone on suspicion of theft and vehicle interference.
Linked to Multiple Thefts and Criminal Damage
Once in custody, the 31-year-old was hit with further charges related to three other thefts, two attempted thefts, and one incident of criminal damage in the same area.
He has since been released on bail while police continue their enquiries.
Police Urge Locals to Report Vehicle Tampering
Officers are calling on anyone in Cheriton who suspects their vehicle has been tampered with to report it immediately to Kent Police on 101 or via their online reporting tool.
