Emergency services scrambled to St James’ Hospital in Leeds after a suspicious package was found outside the Gledhow Wing early this morning. The area, which mainly houses maternity services including the delivery suite, was quickly cordoned off.

Public told to steer clear

Authorities urged the public to avoid the Gledhow Wing entrance while army bomb experts assessed the situation. “A cordon has been put in place as a precautionary measure for public safety,” said officials. Several people nearby were evacuated to keep them safe.

Counter-terror police make arrest
