Teen Thugs Attack Cyclist with Machete in Epsom
Two teenage boys from Epsom were arrested today (19 April) after launching a terrifying machete attack on a cyclist.
Terrifying Late-Night Assault
The victim was cycling home just after midnight, near the junction of Jubilee Way and Old Kingston Road, after visiting his girlfriend.
A moped carrying two teens sped past him before turning around and mounting the cycle path behind him. When the cyclist turned, the attackers confronted him, asking where he “hung around” before pulling out a machete.
One of the teenagers slashed the cyclist across the left eye, leaving a deep two-inch cut.
Victim Rushed to Hospital
The injured cyclist was taken to Epsom General Hospital for treatment. Police confirmed the attack left him “extremely distressed.”
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Epsom and Ewell Neighbourhood Inspector Jackie Elkins said: “This was a nasty, unprovoked attack on an innocent man who was simply on his way home from visiting his girlfriend. He has suffered a deep gash to his left eye and been left extremely distressed as a result of the incident. We are urging people to come forward if they have any information which could assist our enquiries.”
The two teenage suspects remain in custody. Surrey Police continue their investigation and ask anyone with information to call 101, quoting crime reference number 45170039866.
