Fake Water Inspector Strikes in Deal Burglary Scam

Detectives have released a computer-generated image of a man they want to question over a daylight burglary in Deal. On Thursday 27 June 2019, a suspect posing as a water company inspector called at a home in Dola Avenue and stole a sum of cash.

Second Attempt Foiled in Pilots Avenue

Exactly a week later, on Thursday 4 July at 4pm, a similar incident occurred in Pilots Avenue. The man again claimed he needed to check the water supply. But this time, the homeowner asked for ID, prompting the suspect to flee empty-handed.

Police Urge Residents to Stay Alert

Detectives believe both incidents are linked and are appealing for witnesses. Anyone recognising the man in the image should call Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/128683/19.

Residents are warned to be on guard against distraction burglars. Always verify ID. Keep doors and windows locked. Look out for your neighbours to stop crooks in their tracks.
