Police Chase Ends in Crash as Scaffolding Truck Refuses to Stop in Kent

High-Speed Pursuit Through Ospringe

At around 10.15am on Monday 23 September 2024, a Kent Police motorcyclist ordered a flat-bed truck carrying scaffolding to pull over as it left Brenley Corner onto the A2 London Road. The driver ignored the request, sparking a tense pursuit.

The chase continued through Hanslett’s Lane and Water Lane in Ospringe. Eyewitnesses reported that the truck suddenly reversed and struck the pursuing patrol car. The police officer inside suffered cuts and bruises but remains in stable condition.

Truck Abandoned and Suspect Arrested

Officers later found the flat-bed truck abandoned on Athelstan Road at around 11.20am. A 31-year-old man was arrested shortly after on Egbert Road. He has been bailed and is due to return to the police station on 13 December as inquiries continue.
