Flatbed Truck Fleeing Police Causes Chaos in Kent
At 10:15am on Monday 23 September 2024, a Kent Police motorcyclist ordered a flatbed truck carrying scaffolding to stop as it left Brenley Corner heading onto the A2 London Road. But the driver flouted the order and sped off, kicking off a wild chase.
Police Pursuit Ends in Collision
The truck, registered with a number starting GN19, raced into Ospringe Street and Faversham Road before turning into Well Lane. There, it allegedly reversed and slammed into the police motorcycle. Thankfully, the officer escaped serious injury, though the truck sped away from the scene.
Chase Continues with Patrol Car Involved
Another police patrol took up the hunt, following the truck along Hanslett’s Lane and Water Lane. Reports say the truck reversed once more and struck the patrol car. The pursuing officer suffered minor cuts and bruises.
Truck Abandoned and Driver Arrested
Officers eventually found the flatbed truck abandoned in Athelstan Road around 11:20am. They arrested a 31-year-old man nearby on Egbert Road. He’s been bailed to return to the police station on 13 December while investigations continue.
