Antiques Heist Shocks Waltham Forest Storage Facility
Detectives are hunting crooks who swiped a stash of rare antiques from a storage unit in Waltham Forest. Police were alerted just before 9am on Monday, 20 April, after staff discovered a break-in.
£30,000 Worth of Unusual Antiques Stolen
The victim later revealed that over 20 unique items vanished, including quirky cameras disguised as binoculars, a pocket watch, and even a book. Alongside these, a haul of other cameras, photography gear, portraits, and a large framed black-and-white photo of famed author James Joyce were taken.
Lock and Shutters Deliberately Damaged
Police say the burglars deliberately smashed the unit’s lock and shutters to break in. Detective Sergeant Keith Faris of North East CID described the crime as “targeted and well-planned.”
“The owner is understandably devastated at the loss of these antiques which he thought were safely locked away. We want to reunite him with his property and urge anyone offered these stolen items to come forward as a priority.”
Police Appeal for Urgent Leads
