Victim Assaulted After Refusing Cash Demand in Margate
Violence erupted in Margate High Street after a man was attacked for standing up to a mugger. The shocking incident took place at around 9.20pm on Sunday, 17 April 2022.
Mugger Steals Phone and Wallet, Demands Cash Withdrawal
The victim was approached in Marine Gardens by a slim, white male wearing a blue body warmer. The suspect snatched the man’s mobile phone and wallet and demanded he withdraw money from a nearby cash machine.
When the victim refused, the thief started to walk away. Determined to get his belongings back, the victim followed the suspect—only to be violently assaulted on the busy high street.
Suspect Escapes With £100 and Credit Card
The attacker made off with £100 in cash, the victim’s mobile phone, and a credit card. Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
