90-Year-Old Woman Targeted in Brazen Bethnal Green Burglary
Three thugs pulled up beside a 90-year-old woman walking home in Bethnal Green on Tuesday, 19 January at around 2:45pm. They then turned their car around and followed her right into her estate, even passing through a buzzer-controlled gate after leaving their vehicle.
Fake Plumber Trick Leads to Bedroom Ransack
One suspect posed as a plumber, claiming he needed to investigate a water leak. To sell the story, he sprayed water on the floor and ceiling. While the victim was distracted, another man sneaked inside and rummaged through her bedroom.
The victim only realised she was being burgled when a stranger suddenly emerged from her bedroom. All three suspects fled together in a dark blue Fiat Bravo, believed to be sporting false number plates.
Small Haul, Big Shock
The gang made off with a new jumper worth around £35. All three white males are said to have links to Essex and Hertfordshire.
Suspect one, pictured in the e-fit, is about 35, large-built, wearing a grey jumper and trousers.
Police Urge Public to Help Identify Suspects
Detective Constable Kate Osborne said: “Although the victim was unharmed physically, she remains deeply shaken. These men opportunistically followed her home and brazenly broke in.”
“If you recognise the man in the e-fit or have any info on the suspects or the vehicle, please contact us immediately.”
