Two Robbery Attempts Shake Hertfordshire Shops

Police are hunting a man who tried to rob two shops in Hertfordshire on the same day — but both times, staff stood their ground and refused to hand over cash.

Petrol Station Holdup Foiled

Just before 7.30pm on Saturday 14 May, a man barged into a petrol station shop on Hoddesdon High Street. He demanded money from the staff but was told no. The suspect fled empty-handed.

Post Office Heist Attempt Fails

Earlier that day, at around 5.40pm, a similar scene played out at the Post Office on High Road, Broxbourne. The same man ordered staff to hand over cash but got the same refusal and ran off.

Suspect Claimed to Have Weapon – But None Seen

In both raids, the man was carrying a bag and hinted he had a weapon inside. However, no weapon was ever spotted by witnesses or staff.

Police Appeal for Help

Detective Inspector Chris Ross said: “These were two distressing incidents for the members of staff involved. We’ve released an image of a man we want to speak to. He was in the area and could help our enquiries.

If you recognise him, witnessed either incident, or have other information, please get in touch.”
