Woman, 32, Found Dead in Elgin – Police Launch Murder Probe

Detectives have opened a murder investigation after a 32-year-old woman was found dead at a property on Anderson Drive, Elgin. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 7:20pm on Thursday, 16 November 2023, but the woman was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The post mortem has confirmed her death is being treated as murder. Police have not yet formally identified the victim. A major investigation is now underway to uncover the full circumstances behind the tragedy.

Detectives from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team are calling for witnesses to help. Detective Superintendent Lorna Ferguson said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends during this horrific time. Specially trained officers will continue to support them as we push forward with the investigation.”

She added the case is a top priority: “We are working hard to understand exactly what happened and to find the person responsible.”

Police urge anyone who was in the area between 4:30pm on 15 November and 7:20pm on 16 November to come forward. Even small details could be key. Officers are especially interested in dash cam, private CCTV, or doorbell footage that could shed light on the events.
