Two cops battered in chaos as one slashed across the face with a bottle, needing emergency hospital care.
Violence Rocks Protest
Greater Manchester Police faced shocking violence today. One officer was viciously attacked with a bottle, suffering a serious facial slash. He was rushed to hospital.
Police Federation Condemns Brutality
Stu Berry, Chairman of the Greater Manchester Police Federation, slammed the violence. “Police officers are not punching bags for protests,” he said.
“I don’t think there’s a football fan out there who doesn’t support peaceful protest for our national game. But a violent minority have spoiled it for everyone. These culprits must be found and prosecuted.”
Calls for Justice and Review
Berry added emotional support for the injured officers. “Our thoughts are with them tonight. We hope the media recognises their bravery.”
He also demanded stronger protections: “Police officers work hard and deserve to go home safe, not hospitalised. We’ll push for a review of today’s risk assessment and public order tactics.”
