Four Arrested in Brighton Kidnap Drama

Police swooped on a flat in Brighton’s Ditchling Road after a chilling kidnap report on Monday night (17 October). The 27-year-old victim was safely rescued following a high-stakes operation involving specialist Counter Terrorist firearms officers.

Hostage Rescued After Roof Escape and Chaos

  • The drama unfolded Tuesday evening just after 6pm when officers stormed the flat.
  • A 20-year-old man with no fixed address and an 18-year-old from the local area were arrested at the scene on suspicion of kidnap.
  • A third suspect made a daring rooftop escape near Vere Road, flinging roof tiles and smashing several cars before being coaxed down by a specialist negotiator and arrested.
  • The fourth man, 27 and homeless, was nabbed at the flat for alleged involvement in Class A drug supply.

Police Confirm No Wider Threat

“Our priority was to safely recover the victim and detain suspects,” said Superintendent Adele Tucknott of Brighton Command. “Our tactics included distraction devices, which caused loud noises—no firearms were fired. We thank the public for their patience during this isolated incident,” she added.

A temporary closure of Ditchling Road during the police presence was lifted later that same evening. Officers urge anyone with information to contact police online or call 101 quoting Operation Bloomfield.
