Man Blows Up Immigration Centre Before Taking His Own Life
A man threw petrol bombs at a Home Office immigration centre in Dover before being found dead nearby, police have confirmed. Another unexploded device was discovered in his vehicle.
Chaos at Dover’s The Viaduct Immigration Centre
Emergency services rushed to the scene at 11:22 a.m. after reports of a man in a striped top launching petrol bombs from a white SEAT SUV at the facility. Officers quickly identified the suspect, who was later found hanged at a nearby gas station.
“Officers established that two to three incendiary devices had been thrown outside and into the premises by a single suspect who arrived at the scene in a car,” a police spokesman said.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal Steps In
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit confirmed that a second device in the suspect’s car was thankfully safe. Meanwhile, around 700 suspected migrants were moved to a nearby Manston centre for their safety as police continued their investigation.
Kent detectives remain on the case, piecing together the alarming attack at the immigration hub.
