Brutal Murder and Attempted Murder Shock Ilford
Mushin Mohamed, 26, from Leytonstone Road, E15, was slammed with a murder and attempted murder conviction at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 14 June. The verdict came just a day after the court found him guilty. Tyrelle Joseph, 21, of Banks Way, E12, was handed a seven-year sentence for assisting an offender.
Horrific Attack on Cyclist Ends in Tragedy
The nightmare unfolded on November 1, 2020, at 10.14pm when police raced to Balfour Road, Ilford, following reports of a disturbance. They found Jason Diallo, 30, suffering severe injuries after being deliberately knocked off his bike by a speeding stolen car.
Witnesses revealed that after the hit-and-run, two men exited the vehicle and shot Jason in the head before fleeing the scene. Despite emergency efforts, Jason died at the spot.
Second Shooting Just Minutes Later
Less than 15 minutes later, at 10.29pm, police were called to Garvary Road, E16, where a 27-year-old man was found with a shoulder gunshot wound. He told officers he was followed and shot by two men in a car while standing outside a shop. Thankfully, his injuries were not life-threatening.
Chase, Arson, and Forensic Breakthrough
- The getaway vehicle, a stolen Ford S-Max with false plates, was found torched in Solent Rise, E13, at 11.45pm.
- CCTV footage and forensic evidence linked Mohamed to the crime scenes and confirmed the same gun was used in both shootings.
- Mohamed was identified through DNA on clothing recovered from the burnt-out car.
- Joseph played a key role, arranging support and helping the suspects evade capture after the attacks.
Victims Were Innocent – Motive Still a Mystery
“Both victims were innocent men randomly targeted in senseless attacks,” said Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen. “There is no link between victims and defendants and no clear motive.”
Jason Diallo’s Family Speak Out
Jason’s wife, who remains anonymous, opened up about the heartbreak: “The night Jason was brutally murdered will haunt me forever. He had the kindest heart, and dying alone on the street breaks me. He was my world. Losing him changed my life forever.”
Jason was a devoted father to two young children, including a newborn. His death has left a lasting impact on his family, who struggle to come to terms with the senseless killing.
