EastEnders Shock: Michael French is Back as David Wicks!

Hold on to your jellied eels, EastEnders fans! Michael French is returning to Albert Square as the notorious David Wicks. The actor promises “a lot of drama” in his upcoming short stint on the BBC soap.

David Wicks’ Triumphant Return

David Wicks last rocked Walford back in 2014, storming off after a messy split from Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) and a failed wedding. Now, the son of Pat Butcher (Pam St Clement) and Pete Beale (Peter Dean) is set to make waves once more.

Known for his womanising ways and dodgy deals, David has always been a right handful. His bitter feud with half-brother Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt)—sparked by an affair with Ian’s wife Cindy (Michelle Collins)—nearly ended in tragedy. Throw in illicit business at Frank Butcher’s car lot and the jaw-dropping reveal that Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) is actually his secret daughter, and you’ve got classic EastEnders chaos.

Drama Guaranteed, Says Michael French

Speaking about his comeback, 61-year-old Michael French said:

“I feel honoured to be asked to reprise the role of David Wicks once again. It may only be a brief visit, but we know from his past that David never fails to create a lot of drama in a very short time.”

Fans will remember David’s dramatic exit after suffering a heart attack on his wedding day before flying off to the US. But EastEnders executive producer Chris Clenshaw is buzzing over the return:

“David Wicks is undoubtedly one of EastEnders’ most beloved rogues, and we are thrilled to welcome the talented Michael French back to the legendary role as we lead up to the show’s 40th anniversary. David’s character was never shy of drama during his previous stints, and I can assure you this return will be no different.”

What’s Next for David on Albert Square?

The exact date of David’s return is still under wraps, and the reasons behind it remain a mystery. But one thing’s for sure — Michael French’s David Wicks is back to stir up serious trouble. Stay tuned as the drama unfolds on EastEnders!
