Emergency teams find body during water rescue search
Emergency crews discovered a body while searching for a man reported in trouble at Ardsley Reservoir yesterday evening. Police were called at 5.30pm on 16 July following reports of a man struggling in the water.
This afternoon, the body of a 50-year-old local man was recovered from the reservoir.
Police investigating death as accidental
Authorities are treating the man’s death as accidental. A file is being prepared for the coroner to review the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Leeds CID urges caution amid rising temperatures
Detective Inspector Phil Hughes from Leeds CID said: “This is a tragic incident in which a man has died. During this difficult time, specially trained officers are assisting his family.”
He also warned the public about the dangers of swimming in open water, especially with warm weather on the way. “I advise people not to enter or swim in reservoirs or open waters,” Hughes added.
