Night Coppers: Bold New Police Doc Drops This Summer

James Incledon, fresh off his BAFTA Craft Award for Best Photography, Factual, brings a striking new visual style to Night Coppers. This brand-new 8-part series dives deep into the gritty world of Brighton’s night patrol. From nightclub brawls and drug busts to high-stakes arson and missing persons, these cops face it all under the cover of darkness.

Life on the Beat: More Than Just Crime Scenes

But this show isn’t just about the crimes. It’s about the officers who live for the job. From the first shift at dusk to dawn’s early light, we’re right there with them. They battle bloody fights, handle attempted suicides, and tackle harrowing sexual assault cases. The pressure takes its toll, and sometimes, only a dark sense of humour gets them through the night.

“Police access is a crowded space, but Night Coppers is executed with style, flair, and bags of humour,” said Will Rowson, Commissioning Editor for Channel 4 Documentaries. “It feels new and distinct, and while it doesn’t shy away from difficult stories, it has also made me laugh out loud several times.”

Real, Raw, and Unfiltered Police Life

Sarah Spencer, Executive Producer for Blast! Films, reveals the show’s gritty focus: “We set out to really get into the hearts and minds of the Brighton response officers at a time when confidence in the police is at an all-time low. We wanted this to be a character-driven, visually distinct, visceral series that captures what it’s really like to be policing the streets of Brighton late at night, foregoing master interviews and commentary in favour of a more immersive approach.”

Night Coppers lands this summer. Expect raw action, real cops, and night shifts that don’t quit.
