Pedestrian Killed in Greatstone Crash Named as John Westrop

Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses after a tragic collision in Greatstone near New Romney claimed the life of John Westrop from Lydd.

Fatal Crash on Dunes Road

At around 3.24pm on Saturday 16 June 2018, a blue Renault Trafic minibus struck 62-year-old Mr Westrop while he was walking along Dunes Road, near the junction with Hardy Road.

Mr Westrop was airlifted to hospital but sadly later died from his injuries. A second man walking with him suffered minor injuries and was treated locally.

Driver Unharmed as Family Mourns

The driver of the Renault escaped uninjured. In a heartfelt tribute, Mr Westrop’s family said: “John died suddenly on 16 June doing what he always did in life, putting others first. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.”

They added: “He sadly leaves behind a loving wife, children, grandchildren, brother and friends.”

Witnesses Urged to Come Forward

Police continue to urge anyone with information about the collision to get in touch to help with their investigation.
