A pedestrian has tragically died after being hit by a lorry on Tuesday morning in Maidstone.

The crash happened just after 8.30am, prompting a huge emergency response. Police, paramedics, and fire crews rushed to the scene. Despite their best efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hermitage Lane has been closed for hours as investigators carry out a forensic examination. The road remains shut due to a dangerous diesel spill, with cleanup expected to take several more hours.
Kent Police Launch Full Investigation
A Kent Police spokesman said: “Officers were called at around 8.33am on Tuesday, 1 February 2022, to reports of a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian in Hermitage Lane, Maidstone. Police and ambulance crews attended. Officers remain at the scene.”
The investigation is ongoing as emergency services work to clear the scene and restore safety.
