Tragic East Lothian Crash Claims Life of 87-Year-Old Driver
Lothian Road Police are hunting for witnesses after a fatal smash on the A1 between Dunbar and Cockburnspath.

The crash happened around 3.05pm on Sunday, 15 October 2023. Emergency crews rushed to the scene following a collision between a silver Nissan Pixo and a silver Volkswagen Passat.
Sadly, the Nissan’s driver, 87-year-old John Paul from Duns, suffered serious injuries. He was airlifted to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but died two days later on Tuesday, 17 October.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dash-Cam Footage
Sergeant Barry Sommerville offered heartfelt condolences to Mr Paul’s family and vowed to get to the bottom of the crash. The investigation is ongoing as officers try to piece together what happened.
Police urge anyone who saw the collision or has dash-cam footage from the area at the time to come forward.
