Woman Found Fatally Injured in Ilford
At 2.44am on Sunday, 26 June, police were called to Cranbrook Road, Ilford, after the London Ambulance Service found a seriously injured woman.
The 36-year-old victim was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries but sadly died later that morning despite emergency efforts.
A crime scene remains active as detectives launch a murder probe.
Police Launch Murder Investigation
The woman was attacked while walking towards Gants Hill Station on Cranbrook Road.
“Our investigation remains in the critical early stages,” said Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell of the Met’s East Area BCU. “Homicide detectives from Specialist Crime are now leading the investigation.”
“The woman had been subjected to a heinous assault and died as a result of her injuries.”
Formal ID of the victim is pending, but her next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from trained officers.
Police Appeal to Witnesses & Locals
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers urged anyone with information to come forward.
“It is critical that my officers speak with every possible witness and everyone with information that may assist the investigation.”
“If you were in the Cranbrook Road area between 2am and 3am on Sunday, or drove through and have dashcam footage, please get in touch.”
“We also want to hear from anyone who spotted anything suspicious in Ilford during the early hours.”
No arrests have been made yet. Increased police presence is expected as investigations continue.
