Terror Suspects Snared in London and Birmingham: Detention Extended
Two terror suspects remain in custody after being arrested in London and the West Midlands this week. Detectives secured extended detention warrants to keep the men held while investigations continue.
Arrests Made in North London and Birmingham
On Tuesday, 28 November, armed officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command swooped on a 20-year-old man in north London at around 2:50pm. Just two hours later, a 21-year-old was arrested in south-east Birmingham by a joint Met and West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit team.
Searches Complete, Suspects Held Under Terror Laws
The men are now locked up under the Terrorism Act at a south-east London police station. Police have finished searching their homes in north London and south-east Birmingham.
Detention Extended Until 5 December
Thanks to fresh warrants, officers can legally hold the suspects until Tuesday, 5 December, as they dig deeper into the terror investigations.
