Shock as 10-year-old Sara Sharif found dead in Woking home – murder probe launched
Cause of Death Still a Mystery
The heartbreaking death of 10-year-old Sara Sharif has sparked a major police investigation. Her body was found at the family home on Hammond Road in Woking, Surrey, in the early hours of August 10. But initial post-mortem tests delivered no clear answers, leaving the cause of death a mystery.
Police Launch Murder Investigation
Surrey Police have now launched a full murder inquiry, digging deep to uncover the truth behind Sara’s tragic death. No arrests have been made yet, but cops want to speak to three individuals known to Sara. These people reportedly booked one-way flights to Pakistan and left the UK on August 9, just a day before Sara’s body was found.
National Crime Agency Joins the Hunt
Detective Superintendent Mark Chapman revealed the National Crime Agency (NCA) is now supporting Surrey Police with specialist officers from their Joint International Crime Centre. They are offering operational support, advice, and international know-how to crack the case.
“The NCA is supporting Surrey Police with their investigations into the murder of a 10-year-old girl,” the agency confirmed.
International Links Complicate Investigation
Despite ties to Pakistan, formal talks with British authorities have yet to happen. The lack of a formal extradition treaty between the two nations adds a tricky layer to the investigation.
Family Supported Through Tragedy
Sara’s mother has been informed and is being cared for by specially trained officers during this devastating ordeal.
