The victim, in his 70s, was out litter picking on Trier Way around noon last Thursday when he challenged a man rifling through his bag. The suspect responded with a savage punch to the face, leaving the pensioner with injuries that needed hospital treatment.

Witnesses described the attacker as wearing a grey and black hoodie, black trousers, and carrying a distinctive yellow JD Sports bag. Police are desperate to catch the culprit and have urged anyone who was nearby or saw anything suspicious to come forward immediately.
